Working principle of coalescing filter

 The highly dispersed emulsified water particles are coalesced (combined) into larger water droplets, and particulate contaminants are filtered out. Tiny water droplets contact and adhere to the glass fiber filaments. The flow pushes the droplets along the line until they reach the intersection of the line, where they combine (coalesc) with other droplets into large droplets. These large droplets are then brought to the outer surface of the ink cartridge. Having a higher specific gravity than hydrocarbon fluids, they are released and gravity pulls the droplets to the bottom of the container. The larger the droplets, the faster and more efficient they fall. Generally, particle removal efficiency increases with coalescence efficiency. This is through the use of tighter and finer filter media. The flow direction is from the inside of the cylinder to the outside of the cylinder. This minimizes surface velocity and helps prevent water droplets from breaking and being carried downstream.
